Potato: Punky-Reggae-Party

Banda de Reggae-Ska de Euskal Herria o mejor conocido como Páis Vasco.
Septiembre 1984: se gesta la idea de Potato. En base a la idea de tres cantantes románticos amantes del reggae. Junto a una basca que hace verbenas comienzan a ensayar.
Diciembre 1984: polideportivo de Landazuri –nochevieja- primera actuación del grupo.
Primavera 1985: actúan en muchos pueblos de Araba después de los grupos de verbenas. Su canción "“Miguelín el cashero”" se populariza. Graban una maqueta en la bajera de ensayo con cuatro canciones.
Junio 1985: actúan en el polideportivo de la Blanca en un concierto pro-euskara.
Agosto 1985: actúan en las fiestas paralelas de Gasteiz-Vitoria. Nada más acabar el concierto los miembros viajan a Jamaica. A su regreso actúan en la cárcel de Martutene..
Octubre 1985: graban un especial para E.T.B.
Diciembre 1985: Potato, Hertzainak y Kortatu organizan el primer festival tropical de Euskadi en Lekeitio.
Primavera 1986: tocan dentro de la campaña anti-Otan en Gasteiz, Donostia y lo más reseñable, en la feria de muestras de Bilbao delante de diez mil personas.[Leer mas]
y esto esto es lo que ellos comentan:
Potato tenía que ser un Punki-Reggae-Party Banda. Punki porque no nos gusta nada como está montada esta sociedad y no nos cortamos en pregonarlo. Reggae porque es un ritmo vacilón que suena tan dulce que sabe a melón. Party (fiesta, jaia o güateke donde poder echar un cohete) porque sin cachondeo, sin alegría y sin humor no se puede ir a ningún lado. Banda porque somos ocho individuos, número necesario y suficiente para poder montar una buena timba en un momento y para tardar horas en ponernos de acuerdo a la hora de partir.
Les dejo este aporte para quienes gustan de reggae y un poco de ska, el cual tiene muy bueno ritmos.
